software shenanigans

Based on nownownow.com, this page is what I'm up to right now.

Professionally

Back in June, I was laid off my job. Now I'm looking for my next gig. My specialty is full-stack web development... if you can call that "specializing"... I've primarily worked in the Java/JVM, C#/.NET, and React ecosystems, but I've dabbled in a bunch of others in my spare time. I've also done some light SRE work in monitoring production systems and advocating for improvements in DevOps automation. TL;DR: if it's related to software, I've got some background in it.

I can help your organization build out a new feature, or improve accessibility, or fix a gnarly performance issue. Just fill out the form at the bottom of the page and I'll reach out!

Personally

My partner and I moved from Tallahassee (in the Florida panhandle) to the Tampa Bay area. I went up there for university and work originally, then my partner followed me up. We're both originally from the area and have a lot of family down here. When some family members passed late last year, we knew it was time to move back.

All that said, I'm glad to be back! Most of our things are unpacked, but there's still work to do :(

Side Projects

Wookieepedia Status Article Data

One of my friends is an admin for the Wookieepedia and they have a lot of data they track for article nominations. Right now, they track it all in spreadsheets and manually do any analytics on it at the end of the year.

I've been (on and off) working on a little web app lets them manage this data and shows their analytics in real-time. It's not complete yet, but they can view and manage their data. Working on the analytics part next.

Volunteering

When we were in Tallahassee, I volunteered with the Leon County Humane Society on the weekends to help them keep their kitty cats fed and happy. I'd like to find something similar down here or volunteer somewhere else. I know there's a library within biking distance from our apartment, so maybe that?
